brake light switch at emergency brake failed

First it started failing and when i pushed it in manually
my light at the dash stopped illuminating.
Now even when i push it in manually
that does not work either.

How to test this switch before i replace it?

I removed it and cleaned it up. Works fine so continuity when emergency brake is engaged and open when not.
I could not measure the connecting cable as i could not enter the probes into the connector.
It broke on me.
What further to check?

The problem is the emergency brake indicator light in the dash is always on.
A few weeks ago when i pressed the emergency brake light switch myself
at the emergency brake pedal myself it stopped illuminating.

Now that does not even help and as you can read the switch workes fine.

Have you checked the brake fluid reservoir level, and the switch that's mounted there?

Well it being always ON wasn't clear... at least to me.

@RobbieD is onto something... that light does tie into the same circuit as the low brake fluid switch on the Master cylinder.

If that isn't it.... that bulb illuminates by a switched ground... you may have a short to ground you will have to track down.

I've the wires right at the reservoir switch break before, so check those real good.
