Brake help '94 B4000

Please Help! I have some brake problems. The first problem I have is that the rear brakes simply quit working after a short period of time. I believe I have the 8.8 rear with 3.08 open diff. w/ABS. I was told it's possible to add another spring in the brakes to help adjustment but, I don't know where to start on that. I installed new adjusters, adjusted them up by hand, and they were fine but, only for about a week or so. It seems the adjusters don't work and I am stopping only on the front brakes. (shoes are good, fluid levels good, no leaks)Also the brake/abs light is on in the dash, and has been since I bought the truck last year. The guy I bought it from claimed that a $20 sensor would fix it but, again I have no idea. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated.

If I remember right (and I could be totally wrong) the adjusters usually adjust the brakes when the brakes are applied while the vehicle is rolling backward (this could be an old wives tale, all those springs in there make my head hurt just looking at them) I just had the brakes apart tonight to put a new wheel cylinder in and I wasn't paying attention to the adjuster. Well I have to do the other side soon so I will pay closer attention and let you know what I figure out and hopefully that might help adjust your brakes.

Also, if a spring isn't hooked up right to the adjuster than it may not be doing its job. When I pull the other side off tomorrow or thursday, I will take a picture of how everything is hooked up to make sure that yours looks the same.
