would a thrush fully welded sound good on a v6 4.0l wit no cats or would a thrush tubo sound better, cause im working on a budget.

the thrush fully welded and the orginal 40 flowmasters are bout the same right just cheaper

my truck had the cats rattle apart(i'm running a 40 series flow) and it was so loud friends could hear me coming from over a mile away.and it would resonate so bad it would rattle your ear drums at low rpms under load

It will sound good but obnoxious without the cats..
Much like this.

That is the sound of a 2.9 without cats, not a 4.0l. big difference. I hada 3.8 with cats and flow 40's and it sounded good, But when I removed the cats added long tubes and the 40's it sounded great. I know he doesnt have long tube headers, but if I remember correctly the B2 came with a shorty style header/manifold from the factory didnt it? I get a little of the obnoxious rattle but not until 3200 rpm's. (using mustang digital tach).

It's all personal preference. By the way, Mightbe stricter laws where you live, but here in K-town, TN and also in Florida catless was not illegal. A shop by law cant put catless on unless its for offroad use, but its not illegal to have catless onroad, unless you have emissios. But then again any shop will do anything for cash.

the way to keep it from resonating on the inside of the truck would be to leave the cats on right?

:icon_welder:well boys i welded my thrush welded muffler on this afternoon and i cant complain but maybe alittle to much noise in the cab. so next time i get the chance im goin to bend alittle more pipe so i can come out right in front of the rear wheel. but i suggest this muffler to anyone cause its the tradition truck sound in my opinion.

I have a 95 4.0, I kept my cats, and ran 2.5 inch pipe with a thrush welded. It exits before the rear tire. I cut the original flange off the cat (the one that reduced to 2.25) and welded on a 2.5 inch flange. I have a ext. cab and the muffler is under the rear of the cab. It sounds pretty throaty but not to loud in the cab.
