I want to rebuild my bottom end. I currently have someone rebuilding my head, but I'm unsure of what all I need to rebuild it. I know I need rings and bearings, but what type of seals do I need.
Heres what I know.
Rings
Bearings
Rear main seal
Oil pan gasket
Whats missing?

your best bet is to just buy a rebuild kit...it will come with all bearings, gaskets, and seals needed. its too easy to forget little things when you buy it all individually. nothing is worse then being elbow deep in a project and covered in grease and having to stop and run to the parts store because you forgot a $0.02 o-ring.

hope you plan on having the block magnifluxed and possibly planed.

You cant buy the bearings until after you have the crankshaft checked as it will more than likely need to be turned ( main & rod journals resurfaced ) then the machine shop will let you know what size bearings you will need based on how much material they remove ( main & rod bearings )

It is important to have it checked, but the little 2.3's are a good engine and usually show very low wear. I'd doubt the crank or block are bad.
