okay guys, I've got myself a 12 ton bottle jack and can't get the piston to retract.

It is currently fully extended and releasing the valve by turning counter clockwise and nothing happens.

I don't have experience with stuff like this, but I thought that is how you released the piston to return to stored state?

Just because you opened the release valve won't make the piston retract...

Something has to make it move... try standing on it.
