Boggin n backfiring...

So what have you checked?? and or replaced to correct this undesired condition? seeems you have a lean condition happening.

classic first symptom of a clogged fuel filter.

Replaced fuel filter, helped but still happpening, could it have got plugged up again since the truck hadn't been run in 4 years?

Ok, fuel filter helped...but after sitting? I'd almost wager a paycheck the fuel pickup in the tank is loaded..and the injectors are most likely bunged up with crustys.

On a good note? Fuel injector rebuild kits run under 20bucks on ebay. (check for a seller: MrInjector) Each injector has a very small 'sock' built into the end to keep the chunks o' fun from blocking the injector open, or bunging up the nozzle. It's a fair bet the injector rail has some rust that needs to be cleaned out...the injectors probably had a large chunk of crud block up the filters...and the fuel tank should really be professionally cleaned.

tedybear is on the mark. Anything sitting that long is bound to be gummed up!
