Hey guys i installed my body lift this weekend. i didnt install the steering extension...because i never needed one on my 1990. but with my 1993 the steering got really tight. so i installed it. But its still tight. at like a 1/4 turn either way it starts to bind then goes free and if i keep turning it still does it. but only when the wheel is at 90 degrees from center... it also squeeks in the column, once it starts to get tight. anyone ever encounter this? if so, whats the correction?

Have the same exact issue...from what I have read, it is normal

WTF! its drivin me up a damn wall, it seems like it gott a little better the squeeking isnt as loud but o well... did urs get better?

have somebody turn the wheel while you're under the hood watching for any binding at the couplings or on the shaft.
mine had a bad bearing in the column and did the same thing. as yours didn't do it before the lift, i doubt yours has the same problem. good luck.

let me know what you find out, I just did my body lift this weekend and it is doing the same thing, at first I thought maybe I installed the damn extension wrong, but seems like there is only one way to do it.......

I remember back when i put my bodylift on the steering bound-up some and popped some but after a couple hours of drive time it straightened itself out and went away. No clue as to what the culprit was though

Mine did that as well when i put my body lift in and what i did was loosen up the connection on the steering column in the middle, soaked it with pb blaster and had my friend work the wheel to a lock both ways a few times. that seemed to get it situated in at the right length. after i tightened it all up i never had a problem

I had a buddy get in mine yesterday and turn the wheel, and my rag joint is binging up.....hmm can a rag joint just break while your on the interstate? That would suck

I'm not 100% familiar with the Ranger's rag joint, but typically they have rivets or pins that still hold it together if the "rag" material fails. If you're worried about it, I'd get to looking for one though. It is a common upgrade on a Mustang to eliminate the rag joint with a solid shaft and 2 U-joints. There is a company called Flaming River that makes them.
