This is my first post. but i have a 1985 Ranger with the stock 2 in suspension lift. (hi jacker) I want to put a 3 in body lift on as well. do i need a shift extension with that?

The STX High Rider was only available in the later 80's of the first gen trucks, it wasn't an option for the 85's. However all 4x4 Ranger do have a lift block between the rear axle and spring, this does cause confusion (it did for me anyway.)

I extended the shifter lever for the 4x4 when I did my body lift as it was sucked down in the boot, I have an auto and it worked ok as it was set up before, I am assuming you have a manual trans though, which I won't be much help with.

Its reccomended that you extend the shifter. I just installled a PA Bodylift on my 94 and i didnt extend the shifter. I personally prefer the shifter being "shorter" over the stock length. Only thing is if you have the factory cupholder around the shifter(dont know if it came on your yr model) it wont fit w/o being moded
