body lift

Ok i got a three inch body lift for my 87 4x4 ranger. I believe it has the FM45 five trans. when i bought the kit they said i need to buy shifter extension. So i did, but after looking at my shifter i don't see a way to install it on this one. maybe if i had the M50 it could work. could some of you guys tell if i need it or not. thanks for any help.

Mine is an automatic so I didn't use an extension, I did make one for the 4wd though.

What is wrong with yours fitting?

I never put the extension on mine either and it doesn't effect me shifting at all. But I'm not a tall person and I don't have to hunch over to shift. But if you're a tall framed person it may help you. They normally just screw onto the shift lever so I don't see why it wouldn't fit.

The way the FM shifter is made it won't work. The only way to extend it is . Don't melt the nylon bushing though...

thanks for the tips. Yeah my nylon bushing was bad a while back and couldn't find a new one. Had to go to salvage yard and had to buy the shifter and all just to get the bushing. thanks for the the replys.

that shifter usually works with a 3 in bl.


well the t case one as well...but it is a pia to use the 4x4 one.

Easy to make one for that one, no big deal to use.
