i have a 2003 ford ranger edge 4x4 and i put a body lift on it and brought the bumpers up how how do i get my spare tire down does any have any ideas or have done this yourself and have a solution. any help will be great

I owned a 99 Ranger, so I'm assuming an 03 would be the same. But between the tailgate and rear bumper there is a keyhole, which is the lock for the spare tire. It isn't the key to the ignition, it's a goofy, long spare tire key.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

On my 99, I have to remove the license plate to access the spare tire. After the body lift I started keeping a screwdriver in the truck at all times just for that purpose. I'm thinking your model would be the same.

BlueThunder: That would only make sense if your truck was lifted.

On a 99, there is a key mechanism above the center of the rear bumper on the fill plate (as stated above). You remove the key lock, insert the flat tip of the jack handle and turn it to lower the spare to the ground.
On older trucks, you use the lug wrench to undo a bolt to drop the tire carrier.

I can only say to find out how to access the tire drop mechanism (owners' manual?). Then figure out how to adjust with the body lift.

+1 this is the same on my 02, take plate off, lower spare. Soon am getting a bed mounted spare so no more messing around with the key thing

That's strange. My truck has never had a key mechanism. Just a hole in the panel to insert the lug wrench extension. When you install the body lift, the whole is raised 3 inches thus misaligning everything. There was already a hole behind my license plate, so now use that one to access the spare. I specifically recall my body lift instructions pointing out this fact when I installed it.
