hey guys putting a 3" PA body lift on with 33s on my 07 . Ive looked on the site and havent been able to find a good solution for the gap between bumped and hitch, anybody know how to raise the hitch up and have pics? thanks so much !

there really isn't a away unless u cut it but then u have to get a good weld you could try a front mount hitch because they dont hang down as far just a suggestion i'm not sure if it would work or not sure someone on here would know

Black garden edging. Anything you do to alter the way the hitch is mounted will weaken it.

thats a good idea, now im thinkin how/what i would use to fasten that without it lookin to ghetto. thanks johnnyo

they dont hang down that much, the rear bumper sits right at the top of the hitch bar. you could sleeve it and flip it around so that the reciever is at the top. will still not be as strong though. or you could buy a universal hitch... the kind that is adjustable in width, and flip it around so the reciever is at the top (no cutting required). the draw bar will still be at the same height, but at least the reciever is up higher.

Or you could not raise the rear bumber as, most body lifts only come with a bracket to raise the front and then you just have to find a piece of sheet metal and get it paint matched to your truck and fill in the gap between your tailgate and bumper.

Time for a custom rear bumper with built in receiver hitch? We all know thats the answer you're looking for!

Ive seen hitches that are for trucks with a rear rollpan, and the hitch is tucked up real high, it might be high enough. Try jc whitney

I did a lot of measuring and cut the brackets on the hitch. I used some 90 degree angled steel to make new brackets and had a good welder put it all together for about 60 bucks. I hated the idea of it hanging down so low. It looked like crap. If I knew how I would post pics. You can't even tell its been cut and welded. I probably wouldn't pull anything with it though. I keep it back there in case I need to be pulled out of the mud or something. It may hold or it may not. The extra weight in the rear helps too.

after doing my body lift and putting on tires that are 3.5 inches taller than stock, my hitch rides high enough so it won't bottom on anything and still low enough to be useful towing trailers. of course mine is a 1st gen truck and would look really good no matter what!
jk

I'd just leave the back bumper in the orig position and use the black lawn edging to hide the gap between the bumper and tailgate. That way you still have a full strength bumper and you don't have to muck around with making a "custom" hitch...
