body lift advice

ok thinking i might go with the 3inch body lift so how hard is it i dont have a impact wrench is it still possible also can you keep the lower bumper on and the tow hitch thanks for the help i need bigger tires quick stock ones look gay

I've heard that you and a couple buddies can do it in an afternoon with relative ease. Is yours an auto or manual? if manual you have to have a shift extension, just a cheap little part but neccessary.
What's the impact for? I'd say you want to torque all the bolts properly so an impact wouldn't be the way to go here. If it proves to be neccessary for some reason... I'm pretty sure you can rent them from sears (we just borrow them from crop production service, when our crappy 80lb impact isn't enough)
I dunno about bumper... but I don't see why a reese style hitch would be an issue.

And i don't know when your tires started liking the same sex, but I'm sorry to here they are gay... must really suck to have a good Ford cross-over on you like that.....

Your bumper is not going to move. Impact would be nice but you could get by without it. You will need a buddy. One under the truck and one in the truck to loosen the bolts. Just double check you grounds and length of cable going to starter. I had to lengthen two ground straps ang get a longer cable from battery to starter. Also had to get new solenoid after the starter cable ripped it off the fender in pieces. I did a 3 in on a 89 BII

I put A 2 inch on and I really like it A real bonus is that you can work on the truck a lot better with my lift all I had to do was cut my manual transfer case shifter floor A little bit one thing to watch for though when I put the impact on one of the bolts and spun it gas started pouring out so make sure alls clear on both ends of the bolt before you pull the trigger

thanks for the responses in most cases is all the cables and lines long enough on 98+ also the summit or pa body lift do they come with the gas filler hose to extend it if not what size is it and where do you get it from thanks again

I did a 3" PA body lift on my 97 in an afternoon just me and my brother. you do not need the shift extender on the manual trans just shifter will be lower which i like better. the filler hose does not need to be changed. everything works except having to move the radiator and puttin the blocks in the bumpers can be moved or left were they are.

do you need to use the steering shaft extender when you do the body lift and do you need the hose extender for the gas tank?

You have to extend the steering shaft (most kits come with this part) and when i did the body lift i left my bumper where it was cuz thats how i hook on to my truck and if i used the lift bracket it'd be way weaker. I just used some black plastic to fill in the gap, looks not bad i think.

tried putting it on couple days ago got my tires and wanted to get it done two front bolts were a pain since a had to hold the nut while turning the bolt and the middle bolts came out but the back ones are spinning the hole mount so they wont loosen the only think will work is an impact wrench any ideas
