hey guys, i'm somewhat considering building/ buying a bobber in early spring. never really thought about buying a bike until i seen a bobber on here and in some other media. have a question that i know has a lot of opinionated answers to, what is a good start for this project? i have heard that the earlier kaw 440's make a good base for a project like this, and i have seen them on cl in my area for around 800 bucks in riding condition... do you guys think this is a good direction to start in?

just come buy mine. lol

word of advice:
dont get so excited about buying one that you hand over the cash for the first POS you go look at...
i have a history of this.

i had a 99 honda shadow 600 that i chopped up. i used bluecollarbobbers.com
i ended up selling it for almost 2k, and baught it for 1k. heres a pic.

i hope this helps.

sounds like a long drive to me! i'm not sure i can trust my ranger that far anyway! what you got btw? i don't recognize your username but that doesn't mean ihaven't seen it since i spend more time lookin around on here during the day than on my school work haha

ok cool. i have seen that thread on here, but like i said didn't recognize the name cuz i go through so much stuff on here haha... and damnit i want that bike so bad... just wish i had the money right now and i would def consider driving down there.... like i said in my o.p. i haven't ever really been a big fan of bikes, but after i have seen some of these plain-jane bobbers i want one so bad, but i enjoy building things and putting everything i've got into it, so i'm hoping to buy a stock bike and have my best friend teach me how to weld on it so it can truly be my bike
btw, nice bikes both of you guys!!!, and thanks for the replies so soon!

Get an old Honda. They're cheap, run forever and parts are everywhere.

i do like the kaw's.... but i have seen that the older honda's are super cheap and super easy to bob out... and i do like cheap things that run forever! if i go honda, i was thinking like a 750 shadow.... enough bike to go fast when i want to, but still be reliable for quite a few years and be a gas getter... because in the end i'm lookin for somethin cheap, and that i won't kill myself on haha
