Alright so last year we sold our lake house my family has had since the seventies. So since we have no lake house to go to, my great uncle decided to give me his 21' Mercruiser boat! So we spent all day yesterday going down to the lake and towing it back up. He and my other uncle had it and the trailer all licensed and registered in Iowa since my other uncle lived there. so now i need to get the trailer and boat registered and licensed in MO. But my question is for the tax on the boat, should i put that it was a Gift on the title or put a very small denomination so i will have to pay minimal tax? I heard one time that if i put gift the tax will be higher, any one know if this is true?
Thanks.

When my brother went back to college and gave me his truck a long time back, if it's family then there was no tax in Indiana. We did an affadavit at the BMV to that effect.

Call the BMV in your state and ask.
