Downshifted into first going too fast

Motor over revved, (over rev code) think that the old oil filter gasket gave from oil pressure spraying oil around the left side of the engine bay on the wires and causing the misfire, and or floated a valve and bent it, plugs fowled in cylinder two and others were nasty from the oil and I kept driving to limp to the shop, misfire/ unburnt fuel scaved the cylinder wall?, rings are done? i think.
,blow by now happening out of dip stick, tried miracle oil overnite in the cylinder, changed all plugs
have not checked compression yet.

Thoughts as to what happened?

So did you completely loose oil pressure? How far did you drive it afterwords? Any engine knock occurring?

Oil pressure never went down, i was watching it like a hawk while driving,
there was very little oil left though, I had oil in the intake even.

no knock just runs harsh , check engine light is flashing have to check it again.

Check your timing and compression, in that order.

What wouldn't surpise me, is you just asked that engine to speed up VERY quickly, and you may have caused the timing belt to skip but not break ( I did this too)

The 2.3 is a non-interference motor, meaning the valves cannot hit the piston. Also, I revved my old 88 2.3 up past 6500 many many times without issue.

So stick a timing light on there, if the belt skips your timing may be so far off that you wont even see the marker. I skipped the belt twice before i actually changed it. First time it was only 1 tooth, and it idled fine, but had no power at all. Second time was more and it idled like crap and couldnt get above 30km/h.

But if you check compression and you HAVE skipped the timing belt, it will show up low anyway thats why I say check the timing first.

will do would there be any reason why cylinder two is misfiring if the timing is off? , also worth mentioning that the obd2 connector under the dash has no communication, had to plug in under the engine bay
