Ok so as some of you may know the ranger i bought for $1200 with a "blown head gasket" turned out to have a cracked block :bawling: But i recently found another 94 4.0 5 speed with a 6 inch lift on 31's 202k on body 130k on engine and 90k on the trans for $1500 for the whole truck, $500 for the motor and $300 for the skyjacker lift... only catch is the motor has a blown lower intake gasket. im interested in the truck or atleast the lift and motor to put on mine but im wondering what the risks are in buying a truck with a "blown lower intake gasket" i do not want to get burned again and have to engineless rangers in my drive way!!!

Ps owner says its sooo cheap because he needs money quick because he blew his other truck up.

Without actually looking at the truck and hearing it run, it's difficult to really give sound advice.

The intake gasket isn't too hard of a job though.

^^ that statement adds to adsm's theory of it sounding fishy

If he "blew up his other truck" and is too dumb to just get a bad intake gasket replaced and tries to sell the truck instead, well he is either really dumb, or trying to pull something.

i know the gasket isnt hard to replace... but like adsm said it sounds fishy to me as well... especially because he told me he knows its the lower intake gasket because he's been "rebuilding 4.0's for years" which lead me to thinking "then why the hell dont you change the part?!?!" because of knowing how easy it is to fix...

500 for a motor that needs work? move on...

I agree with the rest of the guys on this, something isn't right.

Its better to take advice from dealer according to gasket and its condition which looks good and easy for fixing, experienced car dealer can also suggest many ways.*

Repped you on that James.......A BMW guy hahahahahaha

You can get a junkyard motor for $500, move on.

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

I dunno guys, it sounds like he'd better have the BMW dealer look at it. This subject is beyond any of our capabilities.

Especially for 1500 for the truck. I never spend more than 600 on a nonrunning vehicle. Stay away. Good deals ALWAYS come and go.

i think ill got trailer it over to my local bmw shop and have them take a look... sounds like the safest best advice anyone has to offer on here... some people just need hit in the face hahaha ****ing idiots man but yeah i decided i was going to take a pass on that one... sounds too suspicious for my blood.
