Get a cherry picker, engines are heavy.
Do you think those cheap HF pickers will do the job?
Thank You, I was offered an '01 for a couple hundred bucks, Will go check things out this weekendLook in local Craigslist for engin hoists and engine stands, many buy them use them once/twice and then sell them
4.0l SOHC 2004 to 2011 Ranger or B4000 should be OK to use, lower miles the better
Plan on swapping over your upper and lower intake and wiring to match your 2003 wiring harness
Always replace Knock sensor, and rear main seal
On the 4.0l SOHC there was a timing chain tensioner issue that was fixed by newer designed long tensioners
2004 and up engines should all have these installed
Hmmm, why do you say Motocraft only? I was actually a little afraid that I would get the old style tensioners if I ordered the Motocraft brand so I went with Cloyes when I did mine.I would plan on buying 2 new tensioners for the 2001 4.0l SOHC, Motorcraft brand ONLY
If you get it, pull the valve covers off and check the long chain guides, they will break if engine was run with "the rattle" sound, so you would need to do a full timing chain replacement if either is broken
