The blower motor on my 87 ranger stopped working at all speeds. I’m guessing I gotta replace it, last year I was able to give it a few taps with a hammer and get it going. Now that truck won’t work at all.
Anyone have a recommendation for good a replacement?
I’ll try giving it 12v with jumper wire off the battery, but I was reading battery voltage off the plug on the blower when I put the DVM to it with switch on.

If the blower moter is indeed dead, which sounds like it might be. OEM is the best solution. Another member went aftermarket and had fitment issues. Check the thermoresistor while you are there. If it is the type that has exposed coils, you can see if all the settings (coils) are intact.

The blower motor, speed resistor assy & the wiring to those resistors are all stocked at my local Advance parts store. The fit was perfect, however I did have to smash the blower wheel a tiny bit during installation which is expected. The wiring was a mess & the "pig tails" did have to be rebuilt or replaced. Small job, took a half hour & $60.

Yup, resistor, blower and wiring is all suspect when it stops working

When your looking right, got to be feeling right with everything working right, knock on wood.

Check salvage yards in a pinch. Had a 1990 Ranger that did the same thing years ago. The blower from a same-vintage Explorer was a direct fit.
