Whats the performance value of getting new leaf springs instead of just getting blocks? Is it worth it to just purchase a kit with new leafs in it instead of getting lift blocks and purchasing the leafs later? And would 6 in in front and 4 in in the rear level out a Ranger? Thanks

Blocks are fine for added height, but they generally do nothing for your travel. Also, they tend to cause axle wrap. I am putting 2" stock Ranger 4x4 blocks under my Bronco II, but I wouldn't go any higher than that. For more lift, I would definitely say new leafs, add-a-leafs, or shackles (or a combination thereof.)

You might be a little too high in the front with a whole 2" more than the back, it all really depends on the truck.

Yes to the new leafs. Ride and comfort is important!!! Plus...you might get a bit more height out of the new leafs.

I say go for springs over blocks, especially if your truck is older. The way I figure it, you can go buy blocks for a hundred or so, put them in, drive it for a while, then have to go buy springs what yours eventually break (and they will), and then take it all apart again to replace the springs....

OR

You can go buy springs, get some more strength and travel in the back, and only have to do it once since your new springs shouldn't break anytime soon, and end up spending about the same overall (once you figure in labor).

Alright that brings up a different question i have been wondering about. Steel rims vs aluminum rims?

that is totally up to you...why do you ask? weight? strength? looks? rims are personal preferences..do you where sunglasses? a hat? boxers or briefs??:icon_confused:

what do you intend to use the truck for? and what is your budget, give us these two things and we will treat it as if it was our own...

If money is no object, Forged Aluminum is the way to go. You get the weight of cast aluminum and about the same strength of steel wheels.

Cast aluminum is nice because they are lightweight and easier on other vehicle components, have better vehicle performance characteristics (acceleration and braking) and not as expensive as forged aluminum. But, they are weaker than the other two options.

Steel wheels are inexpensive and high strength but are also much heavier than the other two options.

So, those are the pros/cons of each, now you can decide which type you want.

Rims would be one of those things i would just save up enough money for the rims i would want, the truck would be my daily driver but looking to take it off road. Mainly mud and hills but i would like to rock crawl in it. But majority of the terrain in my area is just hills and when its a down pour hit the mud to plaster the truck in
