Im converting my bronco2 from the a4ld to a fm146. I have almost everything i need but im wondering what i need to do for the block plate. Can the original plate be reused?

What im asking about is the block plate. Its the thin aluminum plate that sandwiches between the block and bell housing. chr wilkins is confused.

Generally, yes, you need it. It helps set the depth for the starter, so the teeth engage in the right spot on the flywheel. It goes on BEFORE the flywheel.

If you dont run the block plate, you may need to shim the starter out.

wish id know you didnt have to run that damn thing, mine had a bit of a flex in it and touched the flexplate slightly, made a rubbing sound luckily it was aluminum so i was able to bend it out. now I have to find a bolt to go it the bottom to keep it from vibrating against the bell housing
