While you are doing the muffler bearings, don't forget to check the muffler belt while your'e at it.

if your muffler was manufactured after july '01 it has chain and sprockets in it no belt they upgraded them ..

But if its anything like the 4.0 SOHC, you have to watch out for the death rattle from the chains! It may be an interference muffler.

If you want ot be able to pass Emissions might want to think about getting an O pipe. Zero Emissions.

44 Corvettes were manufactured with a 1983 VIN numbers but none were released to the public as official production vehicles. These 1983 Corvettes were prototypes, alpha test vehicles, and beta test vehicles used to sort out production details while others were assigned to engineering evaluation and crash testing. A few were part of a press introduction at Riverside Raceway in California, December 1982. The 1983 Corvette resembled the newly redesigned 1984 model (4th generation Corvette). All were destroyed except one, VIN# 1G1AY0783D5100023 (white with medium blue interior), L83 350ci, 250HP V8, 4-speed Automatic transmission and was retired to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It is owned by GM. It was saved from destruction by a few forward looking individuals who recognized the need to retain one 1983 Corvette for posterity.

I like to go in and ask for parts for an '82 Delorean, list off stuff like fan belt, plugs, etc, and a flux capacitor, and then wait and see how long it takes for them to get it.

Damn, I had to go over that like 5 times, apparently its time for bed, only been up since 6....

anyways, now that the thread is alive again... the trucks we work on do have themuffler bearings, but the bike i have (85 yamaha virago) has the elusive muffler smoke, if you remove the baffles from the mufflers, there's a good chance some will leak out, and once it's out, it's almost impossible to recharge...

atleast with the muffler bearings, you can get the tool to replace it...

I cant believe you all. none of you remembered the most important aspect of vehicle maintenance. You have to flush your engine with saltwater every oil change, then run it for about 10 minutes before putting new oil in so its nice and dry!!!!

While your under there check out your shock absorber fluid level, and coat the brake rotors with grease so they don't wear out to quickly.
