My credo
If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
I blew the pressure line and I have the part at home, about 44 miles away. Should I take the chance and drive home refilling as necessary or buy another line and replace it here?

Opinions?

If you run the pump empty it will most likely need replacing.....I'd replace the line ASAP.

I guess it would depend on how bad it's leaking...

If i could make it home with stopping to fill it a couple times... I would drive it.

Just don't run it out.

I've never seen a "blown" pressure line leak slowly enough that any amount of stopping to refill it would work...

Your the one who's there lol. If its spraying out a quart every minute you aint going anywhere. If its just seeping who cares, drive it. Use common sense.

I made it out here and just lost power when I pulled up. I topped off not knowing about the line at home then drove out here so I'll pick up 2 quarts of type F and give the drive a shot I think.

I need to replace the steering box anyways so I think Friday my friend and I will put that in with the new lines.

Let's hope it's not a pump to after my attempt. I may do a few extra stops just to be sure.

Ive lost fluid with a couple of rangers and never toasted a pump, the ‘88 lost a pressure line and the ‘93 had the pitman seal on the steering box go out. Maybe I got lucky twice.
