Bleeding problem TK4

Hello all, been reading these forums to guide me through a throw out bearing replacement on my recently purchased Ranger. Here's whats going on :

- Master cylinder was destroyed, replaced it with new unit
- Slave cylinder appeared to be leaking and super old, replaced with new unit
- Had issues bleeding on the truck; removed system & bench bled both cylinders individually, then attached hose and installed on truck
- Initially had some pedal feel, but attempted to bled further after it failed to go into gear and lost what little pressure was there

I'm planning on building a power bleeder to force fluid all the way through the system, but I wanted to drop by here and see if anyone had sage wisdom before I spend more.

It's cheap and easy to build a vacuum bleeder. Mason jar, drill 2 holes.. One long hose attached to engine vacuum, the other to your bleeder valve. Fire up engine, keep an eye on master...don't let it run dry. Works for brakes too.

I was going to go that route, but slave cylinder doesn't have a nice bleed valve. Instead it has an allen head pointed screw that, when loosened, allows the bleed to occur from a hole drilled in the slave. I dont think I could confidently attach a line to it.

May still give that a shot regardless. Could be possible to get a line on that bleed hole.

Did not know that. Pressure bleeder may be the way then. I've heard of people using a flat plate with an air fitting, and a rubber gasket made from tire tube. Figure out a way to strap or bolt it down. Would be a pain in the butt with a small reservoir. Maybe adapt the mason jar idea so there is more capacity.

Embarrassing update : I failed to remove a line cap from the master cylinder when installing it. The presence of this cap made it impossible for fluid to travel from the reservoir through to the system. Grabbing some fluid today and finishing her up. Thanks for the input!!

Bleed complete, pedal feel is good. New problems! Truck won't go into gear. My thinking is I installed the throw out bearing incorrectly. Can anyone chime in with personal experience? I can shift through the gears with the truck off, but once running it won't shift out of neutral.

I'm going to move this to a dedicated thread as it is no longer a bleed issue.
