BlackBII's white ranger

Windshield and trim. This trim is the biggest pain. I bought new clips, but of course them being aftermarket they're worse than the 30 year old Ford ones. Also replace all the stripped phillips inner fender screws with these hex head ones, so maybe in 30 years when I pull them out they won't all strip. Also decided to check my hub nuts and they still look great after 10k miles and 2 years.

Looks great!

I'm using hex head screws on mine too. I hate how the philips heads fill up full of dirt! Ford had it right on the full size trucks, why we got "screwed" with crappy fasteners is weird.

Im not sure where you got your windshield trim clips from, but when i got my replacements a few months back. I went to the windshield shop by my house and they had new exact pieces, worked fantastic.

Looks like the brand of the clips is Retro-Motive. Looking at them closely, and the rear lip that holds the trim isn't quite as prominent as the Ford ones. The Ford ones have a larger lip

Yeah every phillips I've pulled on my truck has been stripped or full of dirt. Super lame

Only a few things left to do. Bumper, tail gate, mirrors, rally bar, lights, stripes and... That's it I think.

Beautiful...

And we have mirrors! Here's the passenger side, I did a better job here than the driver's side.

I used some new Z shaped weather stripping around the outside, and some old window scraper style stuff by the window.

You are giving me this for my easter gift this year right?

That's a nifty idea... I don't mind the stock mirrors on my '90, the stupid thing is they put them so far back... I've always been tempted to just move the stockers forward if I ever get to doing body work...

What I should do is like that on my F350 with Dodge mirrors, I've seen it before and it doesn't look too bad, the stock power mirrors on those are horrible for towing, and the clip on towing mirrors are next to useless... maybe next winter...

I actually did just that a few years ago. Made a huge difference, and I thought about doing it again here, but those little mirrors are so useless

Here's a good shot of it

Started work on my tailgate. This is the best one I could find... 2nd Gen Rangers are becoming rare in Junkyards these days. The bottom of the panel was caved in from what looked like backing into a trailer, so I decided to patch it with a piece from another tailgate. The iron oxide was a nice surprise -- ground that away and used some naval jelly and a rust inhibitor spray paint.

A little bit of filler and it'll be good as new.

What filler are you going to use ? I hope that you don't apply Bondo, it doesn't hold up over time. You probably already know what I'm going to suggest you use, but in case you don't, I added it for you.

If you are looking for something that will last, I suggest you use either Mar Glass, or Dana Glass. Either one is good, and they're both waterproof. You apply them the same way you'd apply Bondo, and can be shaped with a (I've forgotten the technical name), Cheese Grater.

I don't know what you plan to use as a filler, you should try Mar Glass or Dana Glass. They're applied the as Bondo, except they're waterproof. I started using them in the 80's and have never had any problems with them. You can also repair fiberglass with it, without having to use glass mat or resin.
