Bilstine 5100 series question?

Looking for some help with bilstine aplication here I have a 2002 b4000 torsion lift keys 2.5 " and a rear overload spring pack for a 3/4ton fullsize Chevy to get 1.5 in lift on the rear , I'm running the stock 4600 series bilstines that came stock in a 2003 lev2 fx4 ranger but they limit down travel on the front id like to use bilstine part# 24-107187. An 25-185509 they seem to be longer. And appear they would fit anyone have any experience with bilstine 5100s on there ranger ? Thanks

By installing the lift keys... you didn't add any travel to the front suspension. Unless you altered the down stop.

It's just the preload increase in the torsional n bar. In order for that shock to fit I needed to use the spacers on the bolts lower bar mount and still when it's jacked up I need to use a jack to get it back together again jacking up the a arm

I'm also running bfg ko2 33x10.5 on the Alcoa rims that came on a fx4 I thought if I could run the 5100 series shocks it would handle the heavier tire better

You can go look at the shock spec... as long as the spec works (important that it will compress small enough) try it. I would guess they are also for a heavier vehicle... not so sure how they will perform.

I have them on the back of my Ranger.

From what I understand the guts are the same as a 4600 series but they are just longer for a lifted vehicle, have a different tube finish and have a boot rather than the tubular sheath.

I like the finish on the 5100's, the blue and yellow is a weird color scheme. Also on the rear of mine there is flying gravel to ding up painted shocks. Never tried brushed nickel ones before but I would think they would hold up better.

My front isn't lifted and they don't make 5100's for the front of mine anyway, I just added a pair of 4600's to my Amazon cart yesterday for the front.

Well thanks for the input. I like the finish on the 5100s too but after comparing all the specs I could find the only 5100s close to my legnths were for a 3-6 inch lift bilstine says there are no 5100s for my application so I went with a Rancho rs5000 kit that was for rangers that had leveling kits from 1.5 -2.5 lift. I would have liked the bilstine but seems like they would be to long I'll update when I install the Ranchos if anyone's curious about that kit
