Ive heard a lot of good things about guys here changing over Bilsteins with great results. i havent been able to find what kind that would be the best though. any help?

On Highway? Great.

Rough roads? Not so much.

But as I've said in the past, my main use of 4x4 is avoiding going offroad
Or staying on the road I'm on.

they would be for road use only. i was thinking the 4600 series but wasnt quite sure

Lots of off-road trucks use Bilsteins, and Bilstein has lots of off-road shocks.

I am curious to here if someone tried a Bilstein (5100 or higher) and also a SAW/Radflo/Fox/Icon and how they compare.

I am very happy with Bilsteins for on and off-road. My 02 FX4 came with them and I feel they were good in general for off-road but were a little soft in moderate rock climbing situations. I have now replaced them with the HD Bilsteins and they are a little more firm which should improve the moderate rock climbing stability.

throw away shocks, I think bills(like the 5100's) are the best shock out there. As they tune/valve there shocks for each app. unlike rancho, procomp etc.

once you get in to the "take a part shocks" bill 7100's or better, kings, fox, SAWS, radflow etc. they all have little pro's and cons to them. But over all they pretty much equal them selfs out,to 99.6% of the people.

with the take apart shocks, how they are going to ride is all up to you, on how YOU tune re vavle them for your use etc.
