I know enough about autos and things mechanical, but not motorcycles so much. I have one and got it when it wasn't running, and fixed it up. But it's been 2 months, and the 450 isn't doing it so much for me anymore. Plus I'm 6'4" so I get a little cramped on longer rides.

I saw a 85 Honda Sabre on CL for $300 (what I paid for my nighthawk) that 'ran good when it got stuck in gear.' I'm just curious what kind of job this would be. The guy told me his mechanic said it would cost $300 to fix. Knowing the cost of labor these day (especially for a specialty like bikes) this doesn't sound too bad.

Let me know what you guys think. Here's the ad http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/mcy/695779623.html

If I get it, I'll probably just keep the Nighthawk, for the summer at least so my lady can learn to ride a little better..... When she's not riding with me of course. :icon_idea:

I'm also trying to figure out whether it's the V45 or V65. If it's the V65, I won't get it, since I don't need 1100cc, period.

I've heard the bolts on the clutch can back out on some bikes? Does this seem possible?

That is possible, if they are not torqued to spec when put back in after maitenance, also there could be something as simple as a need for adjustment on the clutch, or maybe one of the shift forks is broken....

Try rockin the bike back and forth while trying to get it into neutral

Do you know what gear it is stuck in?

Even though me and my father own totally different bikes (trials bikes) my fathers bike broke a shift fork causing it to get stuck in second and the shifter would not move, I think the part was like $6...

Well the bike is about 100 miles away from me so I'm trying to figure out as much as possible about it before I go look at it. The guy also isn't giving me very detailed responses... I'll ask him if he knows what gear it's in, although that seems doubtful as its been stored since '04.

I'll let you know what I find out, thanks guys.
