BII Rocks and 44's. LOTS of pictures.

Why not mod your current pump for more pressure and flow? With the lines going to rear steer, along with a cooler and filter, you would have the fluid capacity...

I have already modded them both for higher PSI and more flow.
http://westtexasoffroad.homestead.com/powersteering.html

I wont ever have enough flow to both front and rear at the same time.
Even the guys around here running PSC pumps can do both, but its WAY slower and has less power.
I want my rear steer to be FAST. Right now its ok, but not as fast as i want.

Going to a slightly smaller piston in your ram (1.5" vs 2") will speed up your steering. Have you thought about using a hydraulic pump for like a log splitter style? Checking into one of those that has a lot more gpm than the power steering pumps sounds like a better option than the dual pump setup. I do understand the want for a second pump, but I'd you can keep the setup simplified and single pump, just a thought...

IMHO a 1-1/2 ram wont turn 44's in a bind. 2" is minumum.

A GM style saganaw puts out 3000+ psi at 3.5gpm before you hop them up!!!! Thats alot than people think!
http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/PR-Hydro_Steering/index2.html (about 1/2 way down read the spec sheets)

I had a 3" on the rear steer when i first added it but it was sooooooo slow. (3" ram was free).

Do you mean a log spitter valve???
I allready have a micro switch joystick for the rear steer, i can mount it ANYWHERE and all i have to hook up is three small wires. With a log splitter valve, you have to run three hyd hoses into the cab somehow. Hyd hoses are STIFF and are a PITA to route in and outta the drivers compartment.

For me, for what type of wheeling i do, 2 pumps is the way to go. I have seen a few single pump 2 steer axle rigs have the fluid get so hot, that the steering quits.... I dont want to have this problem. Ever. Lol

No, not the mechanic valve, the hydro motor itself, the one mounted to the gas engine. I think they flow around 10-15 gpm @ 3k psi...

Oh ok.....
Yea i havent seen one of those around.
We really dont have many trees to cut down, so not too many log splitters around. Lol

Tractor supply, rural king, Grainger, etc. Should be about the same price as a stock power steering pump if not cheaper...

A hydro motor can also be a pump. I hear ya on the setup you already have. Let us know if it works out for you!

I guess you could use a motor as a pump. Never really thought about it lol.

The main reason i went with a automotive pump is that its designed for what were using them for, variable rpm's, pullys are readily avaiable in all kinds of sizes, you can find a saganaw pump in any junkyard, and the put out great volume and pressure!

If a log splitter pump yacks on the trail, good luck finding one that has the same bolt pattern as the one you have....

Thanks for the info tho!!!

I have a chebby "P" pump, a hacktackular homemade bracket and a electric over hydraulic valve and some hose and fittings for my queer steer.

Im soooooo ready to be done with the powerpack. Im tired of listening to it.

Pictures of valve.
