hey guys..got another quistion for you guys,again.lol..well somethign wrong with the 4.0 again.when i step on the gas it like boggs ,and sputters and spits a little black smoke and some times itstalls on idle or surges.but when i unplug the mass ai flow sensor, everything is fine..it goes back to normal except the enigne light is on.so does the problem ly within the mass air flow sensor..can i clean it or does it need to be replaced..or is this a fuel related problem.
thanks
ryan

If you want help RIGHT NOW, pay someone for it.

I have better things to do than be online 24/7.

Your problem is undetermined because the computer runs in a different mode with the MAF (or any other critical sensor) unplugged.

ok your right im sorry .that is disrespectfull.i just htought that since 32 people veiwed it someone would know..so its not the maf, could it be the egr..i looked for one and couldnt find it.
thank you
and sorry

Take it to an autoparts store such as Shucks and have them scan the codes. I believe one of the vacuum lines from the airbox controls the blend door on the lower intake tube, can't remember what the other does, both of mine are gone.

ok..can i plug the line that goes to the intake tube becasue i no longer have that intake tube..
thanks
ryan

dose anyone know where the egr valve is located so i can test it..lolo..i cant find it

Unless your 93 is a Cali model it doesn't have EGR. Pull the codes, no sense in wasting time without knowing for sure. Also check the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator for any gas in the line, if there is, the FPR is bad.

one line to the bimetal sensor on the airbox from the vacuum tree at manifold, one line from bimetal sensor at airbox to the heat regulator at the air intake.

thanks everyone..turned out to be the maf ..put it in and now it runs good:icon_cheers:
