I have tried to start my 96 ranger 2.3 for days i have eliminated the fuel pump and relay for sure. no spark but new plugs no miles on them where to start i have read about the fuel pump inursha switch i cant find it though any help is appericated
check the battery terminals. do they look coroded, you'd be suprized by how little crossion it takes to keep a truck from starting.
I just had the same problem. I tried everything to get it to start, and through many a wrench trying to figure it out. Of course it was the easiest thing in the world lol.
the timing belt is intact. none of the fuses are blown and all relays are new as of yesterday and the check engine light is not on as of now. thanks guys im really lost right now im sure its something simple did i say sure i ment hope. and yes it turns over but no spark.
The ICM on my '89 is on the front side of the intake manifold - you may want to check the connection to the coil packs and check the coils also during start-up only one the primary coil fires - I believe its the one that controls the spark plugs on the passenger side of the engine
did you replace the plug wires in the correct order/cylinder? Check those battery terminals and clean them too. I've had no engine starts because of that too. I had a problem with my ICM too. Did you disconnect the battery when you preformed your work? I did not and ended up frying my ICM and had to get a new one. Have you done any other stuff to it?
I would start by taking all the grounds off and cleaning them... also im not sure if your 96 has a similar style ICM as my 94, but if it does, make sure the bolts are tight on the left side (facing the truck) of the ICM my truck wouldnt give me any spark until i grounded the ICM properly. if that dosen't work take it off and have a local shop test the ICM for you.
