big desision

i would pay off your current ride. this will allow you to get good credit. after its payed off keep it as a DD and buy a beater ranger, b2 or exploder and start there. parts are easy and all. plus if you break it or crunch it your not really bothered by it. ya kno?

lift it, its a 2wd you wont be going into anything that intense

or just go the extra length and prerunner the biatch!

If you still owe money on it and you ain't made of money find a second rig to beatand keep that one safe

If you take it offroad, sooner or later you're going to damage it. Mechanical - it's usually in the front axle or transmission. You're 2WD, so that just leaves the transmission unless you do something dumb like hydrolock it in water.

If you sink money in to lifting it, you'll want to take it offroad. Then you'll get frustrated and want to buy a 4x4 and begin the never ending cycle.

If you lived out west where it was wide open, I'd say lift it and enjoy the desert. You're not.

Also remember that there's nothing worse than making payments on a vehicle that's broke and you can't drive.

So now to sound like I'm contridicting myself. An FX2 is basically a 2wd Ranger with the stance of a 4x4. Since it's not a true 4x4, you won't be able to go everwhere a 4x4 can, so that will help keep you out of some trouble. Know your limitations. Also, we have a great group of members up in NJ. Hook up with them.

Since you're 17, I'll tell you to not argue with your parents. When you're 18 you can do your own thing and probably be shown the door so you can go do it. They're just trying to look out for you.

Seriously though. Most offroad Rangers go through front axles, hubs and transmissions. It's not that often you see a rear go. But anything can happen. Just avoid overheating the tranny.

lift it!!! and dont go too crazy while off roading. i do some mild off road on mine, and no matter how excited i get i always keep im my mind that its not an xtreme machine so i must take it easy, and i havent broken a thing
not even a flat tire.

i got the same story over here, but i convinced my mom that i wont be damaging the truck lol,and in case i do im working so i have a lil stash to cover any emergency, besides im learning to fix some simple things. i did helped my cousin when we did the lift, so i know how to take it out and put it back,
i know how to take out brake pads and shocks lol
