snow/winter driving either on pavement or gravel roads, im looking for your opinions on these two specific tires only, assuming you could pick from the two.

Bf Goodrich all terrains

Bf Goodrich km2's

What say you????

Bf Goodrich all terrains, everyone I have asked that had them have claimed there better in snow/ice, then mud.

bfg at's, good on packed ice, rain, powdery snow, good on rocks, and doe decent in mud for a at. mudders suck on ice, it turns your truck into a giant ice skate

There is a difference between ( bfg mud terrain ) and ( bfg km2's )

Below are the differences, the first one is a bfg mud terrain and the second is a bfg mud terrain KM2.

There seems to be much more rubber foot print on the km2 vs the standard mud terrian that would contact the road.

Are the people responding to the poll actually referring to the bfg mud terrain and NOT the bfg mud terrain KM2 as in not being good in snow????

From appearances ALONE the bfg mud terrain km2 looks like it would do MUCH better in the snow then the bfg mud terrain.:dunno:

KM2s and ATs aren't even similar tires. You want the ATs unless you wheel your truck a LOT and get into mud or rock crawling. One would think mud tires work well in the snow but a good all terrain tire will rape a mud tire in the snow.

my chevys toyos mt did good in snow and on ice. but then your talkin alot of money for em

Hmmm.... wrong pole TrXus M/T http://www.offroaders.com/reviewbox/showproduct.php?product=34&cat=3

Oh ...and in case you wonder I got a set of these with 40-60% tread 3,000 miles ago they are wearing well and perform awesome on my 91 super cab. It does weigh 4500 lbs though. They work well in mud, idle till you have trouble then spin them out, they are good on the street with me getting 17.5 mpg (US) on the highwayand 13 ish in town without me regearing.

I have owned both and would definitely go with the AT's on snow and ice over the MT's or even the KM2's. The mud tire was designed with big, open lugs to help clean the tire out. The AT's are designed with smaller lugs to help grip the road better. Yes even snow and ice.

A/Ts are an awesome tire.

The BFG MTs suck in everything but mud.

Well I vote MTs.

There's little difference on ice. There's no tread pattern that works on ice. Ice is hard. Amount of tire on the ground matters and there's little difference.

What matters is when you are off the road and into the snow. As soon as you hit anything loose, those little AT voids are packed and making either snowmen or mudmen. It's over. There is no comparison. It's all about surface area--the more you have, the more there is for mud and snow to stick to. This is why large voids work--you have a lot of mass (mud or snow) but not much surface are to stick it to.

I'm telling you. Don't get ATs. Those are almost no use offroad--which means the road isn't what you saw in July. They stink. You want big voids that are quiet enough to stand them. You are better off keeping your Sears Guardsmens and buying a set of those wire tirechains.

I would never own a set of those ATs. When you need them, they are packed full of what you were hoping they could make it across.

Stud these puppies and hit the snow/ice.

That's not laborious. You can pull your fingernails out with your vicegrips and have just as much fun.

And those suck too unless you are on shear ice. With snow, you need the voids. Those get packed in too. Chains are the best because they move and snow doesn't stick to them well. But like the studs, they both suck when you get to town where they salt and plow.
