hi, my bii is running pretty good now. i'm getting 17mpg though. Is that good, bad, average? Wondering if I can get that number higher. Anything I can do mechanically? It's a 2.9 stick in the 80s. Driving wise I definitely try to drive to conserve gas. And also how much mpg can an 80s 2.3 do? If it can do more than 25 I'm daydreaming about swapping that in down the line (way down the line, content for now) being that I don't haul anything in this vehicle

I'd be happy to get 17 in a b2. Canadian equivalent would be 21. Best I got was 17 Canadian, same as 12 stateside.

yes it is pretty good, the B2 isn't what you would call aerodynamic, lol

So loses quite a bit at freeway speeds compared to cars.

Lower stance and thinner tires help MPG.

4cyl might get you in the low 20's, 25 would be a bit of a reach

IMO, 4cyl commuter type car would be better than a swap if MPG is what is needed

Mine got around 18 in town, 22 or so on the highway. IIRC, I got 24 if I kept it around 60mph but it wasn't usually worth the difference.

imperial some places....mostly liters....but us gal the b2 should run 16-23 mpg.

all hi-way can net 22 plus pretty easily with a 5 spd 2.8 or 2.9 truck that runs good.

average 16-18 i would expect with a stockish truck.

Yeah, I have never managed to consistently get more than 17.5 out of my 2.9s.

I consistently get 20 to 21 mpg in my 89 B2 5 speed in around town driving, 3.45 gearing, Warn front hubs. I do drive like an old man because I am, usually shifting at around 3 grand.

dreaming about 2.3 mustang gen3 (87~93) as a second vehicle, are those good on mpg?
