your LOCAL prices never went up, but prices else where DID go up because the material and items were being shipped into the region that was hit with the disaster. There was a supply/demand problem in other parts of the country.If I owned a store, and a natural disaster hit,and I sold you a bag of chips that normally sell for $1 and I sold it for $5 or even $10 and water for $6 or $10 a Bottle, I would be arrested. When Katrina happened,no prices did not go up, the Gov stepped in and prevented this. Gouging has never been allowed. I went through 4 hurricanes, and never seen a drastic increase in price, just a drastic decrease in supply.
You all need to start thinking OUTSIDE the box a bit....
