Can't believe this isn't a thread already. I'm looking for a good fluid, but I absolutely hate the RainX type fluid that makes the water bead up. Unfortunately, it seems that all wiper fluid has this property. Is there a good fluid for this that has some cleaning ability and maybe a little freeze resistance... like upper 20s?

What's wrong with the rain-x stuff? Hardly need to use your wipers

I just don’t like it I guess. It’s nice at 50+ but in town it seems like it just attracts more water. When there’s no coating, the water just rolls off.

I use strictly the cheap blue stuff. Works just fine and I’ve never once though of trying something different.

I don’t like how the rain-X stuff gets streaky if you don’t use it exclusively.
I used some a couple years because my wife had a half a bottle laying around.

Took at least a year for it to get completely out of the system and for the blue stuff to clean properly again. Maybe that’s your issue.

Could try to run some degreaser through the system to help clear it out. Or just run a bunch water through.

I got the cheap blue stuff at wmart right after it had gone to over 3 bux, then I split it into 3 other bottles ;)

Now that I’ve looked around, I think mine was green. That’s typically bug stuff. Maybe thats no bueno.

I use the wally world stuff, but try to only buy the "winter" stuff as it has a higher alcohol ratio.

I use the orange Rain-X stuff and never had an issue. There is a similar off brand stuff I’ve seen in the parts and hardware stores. I’m not sure if the off brand stuff has the water shedding properties.

i have used the orange rain-x too and it worked fine but since we only actually need to use the sprayers every once in a while, i really had nothing to compare to. but the cost turned me off so i went back to the blue stuff and have been fine since. we don't get into the 20s here that often (100 year snow that call it, even though it seems to happen every 10 years).

I used the blue stuff for years, then I switched to Prestone winter stuff (yellow) and really liked it so the next summer I drained it and ran the green bug stuff and had mixed feelings and after I changed back to the winter blend that’s where it stayed, but I’m running out of it and where I had been getting it doesn’t have it.

Supposedly Rain-X used to react badly to being mixed with blue stuff and Prestone didn’t. Supposedly Rain-X has that fixed now.
