what is the best way to mount truck box tool box? i dont really wanna drill holes if i dont have to is there any other way?

Thanks, Adam

if you want you could fasten it with a cap clamp to your bed rail

Just drill yopur holes properly. Position the box where you want it, mark and drill your holes. Then remove the box and clean up the metal filings. Then paint around the inside of the hole so it doesn't rust. wait for the paint to dry. Reinstall the box.:icon_cheers:

If it's the over the rail style, use the rubber blocks w/ plates & bolts method aka. pocket anchors. Just drill the hole in the tool box, run the bolt through and tighten the bolt with the rubber block in the stake pocket....works great, doesn't add holes and is removable. Just use a bolt instead of an eyelet.

Self tapping hex head bolts through the bottom of the box works well if the box sits on the floor of the bed. Just go slow. My plastic box came with j hooks that hook under the side of the bed rail and have a nut on top. It worked alright.

:agree:

Any parts store that carries tool boxes should have a mounting kit available for a few bucks. They require drilling into the tool box, but they just clamp to the bed rail, leaving no holes.

I would suggest getting some foam or rubber to put between the bed rail and the tool box.

"j" bolts. Drill a hole thru the box beside the bed rail and hook the j-bolt under the rail and tighten with a nut.

+1 that's what my dad did with his toolbox. Can only be done if the bedlines doesn't come up and over the bedrail like mine does though. The shop I got my toolbox from ran 2 self tapping through the toolbox and bedside before I even knew what they were up to. Would've preferred not to drill into the bedrails but it's worked out so far.

i did that but the bounceing on the trail ripped the bolts outta the bed so the box slides around:buttkick:
