Best tire brand and size for 1996 4 x 2 Extnded cab

Can anyone recommend a particular tire size, brand/model, and place to buy for my 1996 Ranger 4 x 2 Extended Cab 3.0? My truck seems to eat tires like crazy. The door sticker calls for 225/70R14.

Have you checked your ball joints and wheel bearings? Alignment at all?
