What is the best oil filter for the 2.5

Go for Motorcraft or NAPA gold, or Purolator, those are good filters and will be perfectly fine, and reasonably priced, and easy to get.

I don't get why people don't just buy the Motorcraft filter. It is the best one on the market for Ford, and even at the parts store I can get them cheaper than just about anything except the store brand. Even the cereal-box Fram filters are more money.

FL-1A Motorcraft from Walmart is the same filter you would get at a Ford dealership.

napa gold or wix are my preference. napa filters are made by wix from what i've been told...

FL1a=FTW. Never had an issue running oem.

Same here, I like the WIX filters...just a little more expensive (a buck or two) but have been proven to be better built filters

HUGE study done on different filters...YOU DECIDE

Here is the link to the "grading" the guy gave the filters...notice the blue numbers

Ford made both the Mazda B series and the F-450 at the same time, doesn't mean they are the same thing with different stickers.

For the money you can't beat what was designed to work with your engine and what your engine was designed to work with.

Using Motorcraft oil and filters when I changed the valve cover gasket on my 125k 2002 5.4 it looked brand new inside.

Wix is good though, they are what I run for air filers and oil filters on my tractors.

i've used motorcraft filters before also but i think the choice in filters is more personal preference then what is truly better for your engine with the exception of fram. fram = junk

Just my $0.02, Ive always ran motorcraft on my 2.3. Never had a problem, but I also change both my filter and oil at 3000 miles. For some reason I enjoy changing it.
