Best inexpensive shocks/suspension for Mazda B4000

I'm looking for shocks for my truck, and I have no idea what to look for. I'm not trying to spend an outrageous amount, but I'm looking for something that be pretty durable. If anyone knows of any good ones, please let me know.

I put Rancho RSX shocks on my 97 b4000 to replace the beyond-crappy factory shocks, not long after I bought it. Don't know if they are considered "cheap" but they've been on the truck ~20 years or so, and still work. The factory shocks were worse than terrible, and no way were enough to keep up with the mass of a twin I beam front end.

I'm pretty sure the ones on it are stock, and they rattle and shake while I drive. I will definitely look into those.

Rancho or KYB are decent brands. Gabriel shocks can be had for less money. Not sure if your 4x4 or 2wd, but either way I would check RockAuto.com. There is even a discount code available here on TRS.

+1 on the KYB. The are middle of the road shocks and are decent for the price. If you have the money Bilsteins are oh so nice.. but KYB is totally decent.

+1 for Bilstien. Have the 4600 on my 2011 and 5100 on my 1988.

They are stiff on lighter bumps and highway stuff (keep in mind, I have aftermarket HD springs on both), but when you get into really rough stuff, theyre awesome. Massive upgrade from twin tubes.

The 1996 I'm Currently putting back together is getting Gabriel Ultras because they were $8/each on Amazon warehouse.

I'm looking for new shocks too. My truck is 4x4, but I mostly drive on the highway to/from work so I may need something for that kind of travel.

I installed a set of KYB GasAdjust on my Rannger over a year ago and have been very pleased with them. The Monroes I had on my E350 were dead in 2 years and actually unsafe. I replaced those with KYB MonoMax and love them. My only negative on the KYB's is they are a bit stiff on a cold morning until they warm up a bit but it's not an issue really. Check on some of the KYB rebates that always seem available.

I must suggest looking into James Duff dual 70/30's; they will actual improve your trucks ride quality and handling.

I've never had a problem with the cheapest thing I can find local. (The last ones I bought were $15 a piece at Advance.)

BTW, if you need shocks for a lifted truck, look at full size part numbers. Early superduty would be an almost perfect match for 4" lifted Rangers. Just beware the manufacturer tolerances.
