Well I'm pulling my transmission on my 88 4x4 automatic super cab and I'm a little stuck. The cross member is bent and when I go to put it all back together I know it won't go back the same. So before I pull the cross member I need a plan.

Make the pics smaller please. Usually 800x600 is sufficient.

As far as the cross member, perhaps one of the other styles will fit in by drilling some holes in the frame rails? Junkyard close by?

Yeah I could try that. I'd also like to try a custom one but I'm not sure what materials I would use and how I would do it

Not sure about the 4x4 on the 88 as it is probably different, but I was looking at a 92 and 96 and they are essentially the same shape but fasten to the frame differently...what I thought looked better was the 96 (if I recall correctly) as it was attached to the bottom of the frame rail on the inside or outside...the on on my 88 was rotted around the bolt so I had to replace the bushing...

I'm pretty sure the later years will work if you can't find one in the junkyard for an 88...or even parts supplier...they might still have them like new.

How the heck did that happen? The mount on the frame needs to be pounded straight. While You are pounding, pound and/ pry the kink out of the mount and reinforce it with a piece of angle bar or channel.

Or you could cut brackets off the frame and convert to the solid mount.. That's part of the plan when my M5OD goes in. Too many bad bushings there now..

The are 2 different styles used for the ttb trucks what you have, and what I had, and then a rare one which I got at a junk hard, you just have to drill one hole the other 2 are there already

Grant Kustoms makes a nice one as well, reasonably priced.

Yeah I think $86? I priced it but I was too cheap

That first pic of the mount fabbed out of square tubing looked pretty easy to make. :D

That's just for the t case support you can still kinda see the trans member in front, you could make one like that but definitely put it in the frame rails not underneath
