Bellhousing dimensions

Hi, I need dimensions for all years of bellhousings that came on 2.3 Lima's. Specifically depth from engine mating surface to trans mating surface and also indexing or centering hole for the transmission end. Thanks for any and all help, I am working with one of the adapter companies to make an adapter that will bolt a ranger 2.3 to a jeep t90 transmission. There is one currently made but it only works with an early Pinto housing which is nearly impossible to find now so they are willing to make a new setup and I believe with the ranger housing it will space the motor forward enough so that the transfer case/trans assembly doesn't have to move forward for the head to clear the firewall. Yes I know it will take a longer input shaft on the trans but that problem is handled.

I really have very little information that would help as I do not have any of these transmissions on hand, but I think your best bet would be to find an 83-84 Ranger with a TK-4 or TK-5...those would give you the bellhousing with external slave cylinder and clutch arm that I am assuming you want?

I am not sure exactly when or even if the FM-145 was used behind a 4 cylinder, but it would be '85-87ish. That could be a second choice if it even existed with a 4 cylinder bellhousing, although it has an internal slave cylinder that would not be quite as easy to work with.

I do not believe the FM146 was ever in a 4 cylinder truck and the M5R1 obviously has an integral bellhousing so that's no help.

Someone on here may pop up with measurements, but the 83-84 trucks you are looking for are about as rare as the Pintos, unfortunately. One option might be to just order a core transmission, I see that there are some as low as $50 on www.car-part.com. That way you'd have the bellhousing in hand, at least.
