According to the vin number on my truck it originally came with a 2.8l v6. From what I can tell the truck has a toyo kogo 5 transmission and it is mated (poorly) to a 2.3 engine. The two bottom bolt holes are misaligned. Is there an adaptor plate or a bell housing I can use to make this work because I really like the 2.3 motor. I have been reading up on this and a couple forums said I can use an adaptor plate or bell housing to make this work but not what type of truck I can find the bell housing in. I checked advanced adaptors and they have nothing listed for this combination.

Thank you

Use a pair of C clamps and tack weld them in place. Yah, I'm a hack :D

Bump

Bump. So I have found out that the bell housing was used on certain rangers and areostars. Obviously I need to pull it from a 2.3l truck or van, But does anyone know what years/option package it came in? And Andy could you imagine the flack I would get for doing that? It would be funny to see that and lock tight in the threads.

I would put an M5OD-R1 trans in it.
It's a much stronger and smoother transmission, and if you have problems down the road, it's the only RBV manual that you can easily get parts for.

Buddy, it is a 30 yr old Ford. C Clamps would be cheap and easy. A new transmission will lead to a bunch of while you're in there stuff. I'm using a pair of vise grips to shift ranges on the Rat.:D

It worked for a couple weeks wile I was driving back and fourth to work. But I lost my job and the truck sat for a couple months wile I searched for a job. Now it wont start and it's leaking from the rear differential. I'm finnaly starting my new job this week and was gonna go search the local salvage yards for a bellhousing. And buy it with my first pay check. It works but I just want the proper bell housing for peace of mind. I want to get it back on the road and want it to be reliable.
