i have a 98 ranger 4.0 auto my frinds exploder is doing the same thing
my truck started beeping at me like 5-6 beeps about 3 times then it dont do it any more till i start it up again,check eng lite is on but its always on the only code is about the emmison something but that has been on forever any help ???????????????

sounds like a bad horn, either that or you've got a cat climbing in at night.

Sounds like the ABS chime. It'll do that if it can't light up the light in the instrument cluster.

Mine did a similar sound when I put the LED in backwards (they only let current flow one way).

Live on/near a farm or anything?

I had some wiring I messed up in my dash when I switched cluster regarding the airbag switch, and I had the EXACT same thing happen.

Thats airbag related for sure.

make sure both lights are working, the dash one and the passenger airbag switch one. if one of them is burnt the beepig will warn you about it.
my brothers 00 had the same issue. And it tunred to be that both lights were burnt.

ABS and air bag lights will chime if the bulb is burnt out.

Turn the key on and see which lights prove out.
