I was wanting to kno any tricks and tips on beefing up my 2.8l v6 and also does any1 know about converting the carbureted 2.8 ove to fuel injected can it be done also thought about lowering my ranger want to give it the street look any suggestions thanks:icon_thumby:

the 2.8 will never be a power horse by any means. That being said you can do some things to make it more reliable ie. duraspark or tbi fuel injection but you will never get alot of power out of it. You would be better off saving up and doing a 4L swap or v8. :icon_thumby: I have a big box with headers, a complete wiring harness off a 3.8 tbi with tbi unit/air cleaner I could get a postal shipping quoat on if you are interested in buying it. I was goning to use it but decided against and got a v8 swap in the works.

Look for Sven Pruett's How to Build and Modify Ford 60 Degrees V-6 Engines.

Not cheap, but a lot of useful performance info. Might be able to find someone willing to sell for cheaper, but it is a rare book.

Injection is entirely possible on any engine. I would try to do a multi-port setup for fun if I were in your shoes, would need a 2.8L intake to play around with, but going cfi and following the instructions on that link would prevent you from having to think about it too hard.

Lowering - DJM lowering i-beams and rear flip kit.

That book is rubbish and the 2.8 is rubbish. Swap in a 4.0--it has all of the best improvements to the 2.8, and they were implemented by Ford.

That book is over half the $$ I paid for a good running 302... that I dearly love.

I am sure it is. Just trying to answer the original question, my opinion doesn't matter, not that I don't agree. Think it's about time to sell my copy if I can get 100 out of it LOL

Superturboblower charge it.

Hi-test blinker fluid.

For jet propulsion.

I think I need to hear that story.

Also, big big rad fan with no clutch. Make it a prop driven truck.

Ok. You asked. Teachers at UTI that taught the "Hotrod" classes were talking to the class about turbo charging. Some kid came up with a bright idea on how to get more fuel to the engine with use of a turbocharger. The teachers laughed at it. The kid supposedly drew up plans to make this work and asked the teachers if it would work. Of course, this happened a year or two before I got to school. I think they said he drove a Honda or VW. That part I forget.

I got more if I can remember them.

I'm thinking that this never got tried in practical application or it ended in a fireball.

You aren't supposed to put pressurized fresh air to the fuel tank. It can cause kaboom.
