I know this is a really general question but anyone know how "difficult" it is to remove the bed of a 4th gen ramger? I need to get to the fram because I have some major rust and rot in the rear frame right now and need to get to it and rebuild it

its not difficult, 6 bolts and a harness to disconnect for the rear lights, but all 6 of my bolts broke so it made it more difficult :bawling:

The only hard part is if you were stupid and bedlined over the bolts like I did... and that wasn't really an issue.

Worst case scenario, my best friend mr. angle grinder came and got rid of the big mean bolts (was the case in my donor f250)

there's 3 screws on your gas filler tube take off the cap and drop it down through the bed. i took the lights out, 4 screws per light drooped the wiring down through the bed. take out the 6 bolts holding the bed on (torx #55)
i took 2 ratchet straps and made an "X" in the stake pockets, then lifted the bed off with dad's kabota took me a grand total of maybe 20 minutes..

just got done doing the same thing check out my thread on it here..http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89082

Don't have to remove the lights. There is a round plug under and near the drivers' side taillight that separates the bed wiring from the truck wiring.

Again:
6 bolts (T55 torx) in the truck bed
3 screws around fuel filler neck
Wiring plug mentioned above
Lift and remove bed

Sometimes it helps to remove mudflaps.

just make sure you use some penetrating oil like wd40 or thread cutting oil on the bolts to make sure they dont sieze up, and generally its pretty easy

agreed but i was planning on painting my bedside so that's why i pulled the lights on mine.:headbang:

if you were close to me I'd give you a hand but not sure were your at black heartbeat

I'm on Cape Cod in MA so you're a good four hours away lol I appreciate the offer tho

Enlist the help of a friend and have two saw horses behind the truck on stand by.
Follow the instructions given and aside from a little cussing at stubborn bolts you shouldn't have to many issues with it.
Just raise the bed up off the frame on each side enough to clear the tires so you don't give your quarters any new stylish bends on the corners.

Where can you get a new bed? mine needs body work and i was thinking it might be better to just get a new one?
