Ok so I was told to once and while on a warm day (sunny) to try and pull out the bed liner and wash down the bed then oil spray it before putting the liner back down. I have had the truck since new (2008) and its a factory liner on it. I have never done this for a few reasons but mostly because I'm worried that I may crack it pulling it out or putting it in + I have seen lots of trucks on the road where the liner no longer sits flat in the back, assuming that its due to pulling it out and then not putting it back in right.
Is this something that most of you do when it comes to bed liners, is this really a good idea?? :icon_confused:

I've removed and installed a lot of bed liners for access to the bed bolts, because on most trucks I would rather lift the bed than drop the tank to replace the fuel pump. I have never had a Ford bed liner crack on me. Remove the tie down hooks and just lift up high on the middle/rear of the bed liner and pop the sides out from under the rails if you have a under lip liner. Some times it will help to sit down in the bed and slide your leg under the bed liner, then you can use your foot to push up on the bottom floor on the bed liner near the front to help you get the front edges to pop out.The over lip liners are even easier. Just remove the retaining hardware, tie down hooks and lift them out. A nice hot day will help a lot making the bed liner more flexible. I don't see a rust problem under bed liners here in CA . I don't think I would use oil under the bed liner because I would be afraid of it eat into the plastic over time. You can use coat of roll on or spray on bed liner coating under your plastic bed liner. Or you can put a thick coat of paste wax under your bed liner and not wipe the wax off. As for the back edge of the bed liner not wanting to sit down flat, on a hot day if you set something heavy on it, it should flatten back out. Some of the new bed liners I installed wouldn't set down flat in the back, because we had the bed liner stacked and standing on the front edge against a wall for long term storage. This would tend the warp the back edges. I would just installed a black screw or two to hold them down.
