I went to start my truck like 5 hours after using it and it was dead. i tried to jump it with another vehical but still no juice. I went to advanced to get a new battery and when i got it back i put it in and sparks flew and it smoked like crazy. I put the positive on then put the negative on. thats when it started. the termanial got so hot it melted the negative battery post a little. i am 100% sure it was hooked up right.(pos. to pos./neg. to neg.) i am clueless on what to do. i did get a battery that had more cold cranking amps. any help would be great.

Something is shorted out. I'd check the cable that runs from the positive side up near the passenger side exhaust manifold. Start tracing that wire all the way to the starter. My guess is that it has shorted out onto the block, manifold, tranny or even through the starter.
