battery light????

ok....i got a 86 2wd 2.9. for the last couple days, the battery light has been commin on when im in gear or while reving it in neutral. when im just coasting in neutral the light will go out untill i start driving again.

this is a thing that has been happenin only every now and then.

at night when i have the lights on, when the batt. light comes on all the lights on the truck get brighter. then when i put it in neutral and the batt. light goes off, the lights fade back to normal.

i took it to work and tested the battery and the alternator, and they both tested good.

any one know what it goin on with it??

your voltage regulator is crapping out and the alternator is surging the system (voltage too high).

better replace it before it blows out something expensive.

where would that be??

its internal or external. internal means you have 2 plugs on the alternator. external means you have a black or silver box behind the right headlight.

yea. i found it. its an internal, that was a bitch to replace
