Quick recap - my grandfather decided to use his '88 XLT to store grain out in the garden for a while, then it was towed into the barn where it sat from 2008 until Xmas 2023. I only get back home 2-3 times a year, so it's been work in batches. Thus far I've:
1. Replaced fuel tank, external pump and filter, FPR
2. Spent hours splicing all the wires the rodents chewed in half under the hood and replacing most of the vaccum lines or capped the empty ports on the intake. The EGR solenoids and air box specifically aren't connected. MAP is.
3. Replaced all fluids - coolant, oil/filter, trans fluid (5 speed) - hoses, belts, etc.
4. New clutch master cylinder
5. New Master Cylinder and bled as best as I could, but the hoses and calipers/wheel cylinders will need to be replaced
Went home Thanksgiving week and got it running and driving. When it's cold, I have keep the RPMs up for a while or it'll die. Once it's warmed up, then it idles pretty well. I have new injectors I will install over Xmas, and I'm going to finish up the EGR vacuum plumbing and check for any other vacuum leaks. Where do I start on the idle? I figure it's a sensor but don't know where to start. No Check Engine light, but who knows how accurate that is. I'm also going to buy a code reader.
Thanks everyone!
