Ball Joints

OK, I found the P.S. ball joints slightly worn, I am going to replace them. When there are 2 sets of anything <head gaskets,brakes,etc...> I like to replace both. Due to finances, I can only afford the upper and lower for one side. Will doing this kill them since the other side is not done? I will replace the other side, but will take some time, maybe a month. D.S. does not show any wear at all. Nice and solid, no movement. P.S. is a different story, wiggles about 1/4" to 1/2". I need to know this, I will be picking them up around 1-1:30 pm EST.

I wouldn't think there would be a problem. It would throw alignment out, and I wouldn't realign it till the other side is replaced. Most will say with stuff like this, what you do to one side you do to the other, but if it's all you can do, do it. It's better/safer than driving around on bad ball joints.

would also recommend checking other components on ps to make sure nothing else is worn either, btbsts, but as ranger44 said, don't realign until you do otherside

ya when you do the ball-joints check all of your seals, if they are bad replace them you dont want to do it all over again just for a seal that was bad. you will be fine on doin one side for now, like mentioned earlyer dont get your truck realign untill you have all 4 ball joints in.. good luck on the ball-joints.

Ok, had to go to a Easter Dinner, finally got out of there and went to A.Z., picked up the Ball Joints and my axle seal. Rented a ball joint remover from there and it would not budge the ball joints!! I had to put it all back together for now. I get up at 4 a.m., so will have to wait until next week to do the other Radius arm bushing. I will stop at a local shop that is far cheaper than all the other shops in town ( they just opened and are trying to drum up the business) so i am trying to take advantage of the prices before they change and increase. I guess I will see if I bring the knuckles to them if they will press them out for me, or what they will charge just to do it all. If they are reasonable then I'll just let them do it.
I guess the doctors were right as well. I'm hurting pretty bad right now, worse than last night. I remember when I could do all this so easily. I used to pull an engine in the morning and be driving the truck before nightfall, but now...forget it, what should take 10 to 15 minutes now takes me 30 to 40 minutes.

put the knuckle in a vice, find a peace of pipe that is the same roundness as the ball-joint and smack it down and out, or it the ball-joint with the hamer to get it to move, i got a press from hourber and only used the cups, pipe and 2-pound hammer worked better then the press.
